FMP pulled off a major upset on Sunday. They stunned Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet 90–89 to open the 2026–27 AdmiralBet ABA League Regular Season, which started with Round 2 after previous postponements.
The visitors lacked defensive effort. FMP punished them for three quarters, reaching a double-digit lead, and held on down the stretch. Jamiya Neal poured in 27 points with five triples. Brandon Rush followed closely with 26 points. Down low, Nikola Gasic controlled the glass with a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double.
Zvezda’s head coach Ibon Navarro played without Andrej Bjelic, Ognjen Dobric, Johnathan Motley, Semi Ojeleye, and Nick Weiler-Babb at FMP Arena. On the bright side, Nikola Djurisic returned from injury for six points, and Patrick Baldwin Jr. made his brief debut. Chris Jones Jr. had a team-high 19 points, but it was not enough. The loss adds early pressure, following a 1–2 record in the EuroLeague.
