While Kristaps Porzingis and Janis Timma stole the spotlight’s attention with their displays vs Belgium, Janis Strelnieks was the one to set a new statistical record for the Latvian national team.

The new combo guard of Olympiacos delivered a playmaking clinic splash while Latvia overpowered Belgium, sending no less than 13 assists to his teammates during the 29:50 minutes he spent on the floor.

This number establishes a new assists record in the history of his national team since it surpassed Raimonds Miglinieks’ 12-dime performance, registered back in EuroBasket 2001.

Miglnieks had then helped Latvia towards a superb offensive input that brought down Slovenia 99 – 93 in the tournament’s Group Stage.
