Beşiktaş are enjoying a great season. Still undefeated in the Turkish Basketball League after 11 rounds, and despite a loss to the London Lions in Round 11 of the BKT EuroCup, they remain among the top teams in the competition with an 8–3 record.
After the defeat in the English capital, the architect of the Istanbul side’s strong results, Dušan Alimpijević, touched on one of the main topics in European basketball — the NBA’s project for a new competition in Europe.
Alimpijević commented on the NBA Europe project, emphasizing that his team is part of the EuroLeague system.
“Look, I think we should talk about NBA Europe at another time. Today, we played a EuroCup game under the EuroLeague organization. As you can see, Beşiktaş is connected to the EuroLeague through the EuroCup. Therefore, we will do our best in the EuroCup. When the NBA comes to Europe, then we can talk about this topic. As you can see, they don’t seem willing to include many teams. For example, I haven’t seen them show interest in any Serbian club, so I’m not sure what kind of project this will be. We’ll see,” Alimpijevic said.
