Several EuroCup clubs announced roster moves on Wednesday, with Hapoel Jerusalem and Zalgiris Kaunas making some of the most notable transactions ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Hapoel Jerusalem strengthened its backcourt by signing Jaleen Smith to a two-year contract from Turk Telekom Ankara. The 31-year-old guard was one of the standout performers in last season’s EuroCup, averaging 13.3 points, 3.1 assists and 1.0 steal per game while shooting 42.1% from three-point range.
Smith played a key role in ending Jerusalem’s EuroCup campaign in the quarterfinals, posting 25 points and six assists in Turk Telekom’s 91-90 victory. It was another strong season for the American guard after earning All-EuroCup First Team honors in 2024-25 while helping Bahcesehir reach the semifinals.
Zalgiris Kaunas also completed a notable move, signing former NBA player Maxwell Lewis to a two-year contract with an option for a third season. The Lithuanian club subsequently announced that Lewis will spend the upcoming campaign on loan with the London Lions in the EuroCup.
The 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive first season in Europe after joining Juventus Utena midway through the year. He helped the club reach the Lithuanian League Finals and averaged 13.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 blocks in 22 domestic league appearances. Prior to arriving in Europe, Lewis appeared in 64 NBA games for the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets after being selected 40th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Bahcesehir College Istanbul retained veteran guard Ismet Akpinar on a one-year extension. The German international averaged 3.6 points in 14 EuroCup appearances last season and will continue with the Turkish club after previously representing Bahcesehir during its inaugural EuroCup campaign in 2020-21.
Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana secured the services of Matthew Hurt for another season. The American forward joined the Slovenian side from Trapani Sharks last January and helped the team reach the EuroCup quarterfinals. Hurt averaged 6.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in the competition while posting stronger numbers in the ABA League and Slovenian playoffs.
Tofas Bursa added guard Shavar Reynolds, reuniting him with head coach Massimo Cancellieri after the pair previously worked together at PAOK Thessaloniki. Reynolds arrives from the London Lions, where he averaged 14.0 points, 3.9 assists and 1.0 steal in EuroCup action while helping the club complete a domestic quadruple in England.
In Germany, NINERS Chemnitz signed Ben Burnham to a one-year deal with an option for an additional season. The 24-year-old forward enjoyed a breakout professional campaign with the Artland Dragons, averaging 20.3 points and 9.6 rebounds in the German second division.
Spanish side Manresa completed the signing of Chibuzo Agbo on a two-year contract. The 24-year-old guard arrives from Cholet Basket after averaging 7.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in the French League, highlighted by a 31-point performance against Dijon in April.
