Barcelona, as did many other clubs across Europe, started practices with the necessary protocols and the team captain in Ante Tomic has been happy to get back on the court while hoping the squad will be able to start with regular practices soon.

“I’m fine, I’ve worked a lot at home, despite the conditions. I’m happy to be able to train again with the ball and also with my teammates. Now, little by little, we are starting to train in a group and I hope that in the next few days we will start training normally. In a few days we will get the ‘feeling’, the plays and the habits of the teammates,” he said, per Barcelona’s official website.

He commented as well on the potential scenarios of EuroLeague and the Spanish League resuming the 2019-20 season but he has higher hopes for the latter due to clubs not having to travel outside the country.

“At the Euroleague level, the organizational issue is quite complicated. There are clubs from many European countries and I find it difficult to organize and play. On the other hand, ACB has the advantage that all the clubs are from the same country. It’s easier to organize and no matter what happens, I think we’re getting ready and we want to play, we want to compete.”

It should be noted that the survey conducted by the Spanish Players Association showed that two out of three players are against resumption.  Barca guard Alex Abrines also noted that if the voting from his teammates “is not 0-16, it is very close”.
