The Serbian champions Crvena Zvezda made an offer to the Argentinian playmaker Facundo Campazzo, and so far is the only team that has done that

After Dallas Mavericks released him, rumors started swirling again that Facundo Campazzo might return to Europe.

As Eurohoops reported, he already received an offer from a EuroLeague team, and Sportski Zurnal revealed that Crvena Zvezda made contact with the Argentinian player.

As Eurohoops can confirm, the offer that the former Real Madrid player has on the table came from the Serbian champions, and so far is the only one available at the moment. However, it’s more than enough for the player who will get 1,8M euros net until the end of the season, plus Zvezda will cover a big percentage of the 2,6M euros the player still owes to Real Madrid from the total 6M euros NBA buyout he had to pay in order to leave for the States.

What’s interesting is that Zvezda currently has a ban on players’ transfers from EuroLeague which has to be settled for the Argentinian guard to be available for the competition.

Campazzo was in the past on the agenda of Olimpia Milano and Fenerbahce, but neither of these clubs has extended him an official offer so far.

A return to Real Madrid surfaced as an option, and the coach of the Spanish giants admitted that the Argentina player would be a great addition to the team.

There is talk of Facu because he has been left out of his team in the NBA. He is a player who has always been here with us. He is a player very loved by Real Madrid, by the staff, and by his teammates. Of course, for Real Madrid, it would be an extraordinary acquisition. You have to let him calmly decide his future. To Facu, as a person, we wish him the best, and hopefully, he can be with us. Why not him,” Chus Mateo stated.

Real Madrid retains the right to match any offer from European clubs and sign the player.

However, if Madrid doesn’t use this right and Campazzo ends up signing with Zvezda, in the summer he will be a free agent.

Campazzo played for Real Madrid from 2014-2015 and from 2017 to 2020, winning two EuroLeague championships, several domestic titles, and individual accolades. After that, he joined Denver Nuggets before signing with Dallas in October, but he lost his spot to Kemba Walker, who the Mavs signed after releasing him.
