David Michineau signed a one-year contract to join AS Monaco, the team announced on Tuesday.
“I’m really happy to join this Monaco club. This is a real opportunity for me to reach the highest level with a club that is one of the best in Europe,” the 31-year-old point guard commented on his move to the EuroLeague with La Roca Team.
Over the last two years, the experienced floor general played for Bursaspor Info Yatirim / Yorsan, combining the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi with the Basketball Champions League and FIBA Europe Cup.
“I immediately had an important role there, and that’s what allowed me to perform with the coaches, letting me express myself freely on the court,” noted the native of Guadeloupe, an overseas department of France in the Caribbean.
A EuroLeague rookie, Michineau carries the experience of 34 appearances in the 7DAYS EuroCup with Metropolitans 92 and Elan Chalon, five BCL games with Bursaspor, and 25 in the Europe Cup with Bursaspor and Chalon. Bouncing back in the top-tier division of France, he previously played nine seasons.
Representing France at the international level, he was capped in the Qualifiers of the FIBA World Cup 2023 and EuroBasket 2022.
Back in 2016, the youth product of Chalon was selected with the 39th overall pick of the annual NBA draft by the New Orleans Pelicans. His NBA rights have been traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings, and, most recently, Brooklyn Nets.
