Taran Armstrong reached an agreement with Dubai, according to ESPN insider Olgun Uluc.
The native of Burnie, Tasmania, signed a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors last February to spend the bottom end of the 2024-25 season in the G League with the Santa Cruz Warriors. Over 12 appearances in the development league of the NBA, he tallied 11.8 points, 7.9 assists, 5.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 0.2 blocks per contest.
The next challenge is in the EuroLeague, becoming the only active Australian in the premier club continental competition of Europe, and in the AdmiralBet ABA League. The team coached by Jurica Golemac began the maiden EuroLeague journey with a 1-1 W-L tally, while moving to 1-0 in the second ABA campaign.
With Danilo Andjusic, Aleksa Avramovic, Mouhammadou Jaiteh, Nate Mason, and Dzanan Musa on the injury list, Dubai has been scanning the market for additional options in the continental and regional leagues. Up next on the schedule is a meeting with Olympiacos in the Peace and Friendship Stadium, SEF, on Friday.
Before joining the Warriors, Armstrong expanded his career to North America by playing two NCAA seasons with California Baptist, between 2021 and 2023. Pursuing a professional career and returning to Australia in 2023, he spent the next two years with the Cairns Taipans. Last season, he put up 17.1 points per NBL contest.
Representing Australia, his international career features caps at the senior level during the Qualifiers of the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 and 2025. He previously appeared in the FIBA U19 World Cup 2021.
