Confirming a recent report about a deal with Taran Armstrong, Dubai officially welcomed the 23-year-old Australian point guard on Friday.
Resurfacing Australia in the EuroLeague, as a member of the newcomers to Europe’s premier club continental competition, Armstrong penned a contract for the remainder of the 2025-26 season with an option for an additional season.
With Danilo Andjusic, Aleksa Avramovic, Mouhammadou Jaiteh, Nate Mason, and Dzanan Musa on the injury list, Dubai scanned the market for more options in the EuroLeague and AdmiralBet ABA League.

Per the press release: “Dubai Basketball is thrilled to announce the signing of Taran Armstrong, a 196 cm, 23-year-old Australian point guard known for his playmaking and scoring ability. Armstrong joins the squad on a one-year deal, with an optional second year.
Armstrong brings solid experience from his time in Australia’s NBL (with Cairns Taipans) and his stint in the NBA G League with the Santa Cruz Warriors.
During the 2024–25 season, Armstrong averaged 17.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game for the Cairns Taipans in the NBL, shooting 46.1% from the field and 35.1% from three.
In his stint with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the NBA G League, he posted 11.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 7.9 assists per game, further proving his all-around impact as a versatile floor general.
The Australian guard joins a growing and ambitious project in Dubai, bringing his energy, and creativity to the team as it continues to build its identity across competitions. Armstrong has joined the team in Athens but will not be available for the game against Olympiacos.”
