The stability of AS Monaco has been thrown into question as EuroLeague superstar Mike James took to X to voice his frustration over unpaid wages.
In a series of pointed posts, the 35-year-old veteran labeled recent official explanations for the club’s payment delays as ‘disrespectful’, sparking concerns over the future of La Roca Team.
“Playing with my money and playing in my face is a nasty game,” James wrote, highlighting his frustration. “I’ve been in Europe a long time… don’t lie to me and say it’s coming when it ain’t.”
This the crazy thing. I been in Europe along time. I know payments can get shaky but dont lie to me and say it’s coming when it ain’t and have me looking stupid. Now it’s disrespectful

The social media outburst comes amid a confirmed financial crisis in the Principality. Reports indicate that the government of Monaco is currently stepping in to oversee club management to avoid bankruptcy while searching for new investors. Despite the off-court instability, the team remains in the thick of a demanding 2025-26 schedule under head coach Vassilis Spanoulis.
James, who is averaging an impressive 17.2 points and 6.6 assists this season, also signaled that his time in Monaco may be nearing its end. Reminding followers that he will be a free agent this summer, he directly responded to fans suggesting a return to Panathinaikos Aktor. “Call DPG,” the Portland native replied, referring to the Greek club’s owner, Dimitris Giannakopoulos.
