Serbian rising star Nikola Kusturica has officially bid farewell to Barcelona, bringing an end to his three-year spell with the Spanish powerhouse ahead of his expected move to the NCAA.
In an emotional message shared on social media, Kusturica thanked everyone at the club and reflected on the role Barcelona played in his development.
“It’s never easy to say goodbye, but today I want to thank everyone who has been part of this incredible journey.
This was the first big step of my career, my first big club and the first one that believed in me and gave me the opportunity to grow. For that, I will always be grateful.”
The 18-year-old also expressed his gratitude to his coaches, teammates and everyone at the club, adding that Barcelona “will always have a very special place” in his heart and hoping their paths will cross again one day.
According to Meridian Sport, Kusturica is expected to continue his career at UCLA, where he is set to sign a two-year NIL deal worth $12 million. Barcelona had hoped to keep the talented guard for another season and give him a significant role under its new coaching staff, but growing interest from American colleges ultimately changed those plans.
Kusturica has been one of the standout players at the FIBA U17 World Cup, averaging 24.6 points per game, including a 37-point performance against Team USA in the final.
