After his team’s qualification to the BSL finals against Fenerbahce, Besiktas president Fikret Orman tried to express his position towards the EuroLeague, but he ended up attacking the competition once more.

Orman pretty much repeated his previous arguments, accusing the EuroLeague for double standards and for giving a wildcard to a French club, something that never happened.

As he said: “I have explained EuroLeague’s different criteria. I think those are ridiculous and incomprehensible. EuroLeague’s participation criteria are arbitrary and I explained that with examples. They gave a wild card to a French team. By which criteria two Turkish teams will participate in the EuroLeague? They took the 10th team into their league (ed.note: he is probably reffering to Limoges and this press release). I see it as a corporate organization. They receive all the revenues and sponsorships. Clubs can’t get any advantage out of it. Fenerbahce took my words out of context because of our rivalry. They spend 30 million euros and get one million back. Not even enough for travel expenses. So I prefer to support Basketball Champions League and participate in FIBA’s competition”.

It’s more than obvious that Besiktas, which will be invited in the EuroCup, will chose to play in the Basketball Champions League once more.
