Former NBA star Lamar Odom is fighting for his life after falling into unconsciousness and frothing from the mouth on the floor of a Nevada brothel. The 35-year-old former player was taken by ambulance to Las Vegas’ Sunrise Hospital for further treatment, as his large frame made it impossible to airlift him.
According to the owner of the brothel, the 6-foot-10 former forward, had been using a herbal substitute for “Viagra”, though it was not clear if the supplement affected his condition.
“There was this terrible foaming stuff coming out of him. He was throwing up, a little bit of blood,” said the owner, mentioning that no illegal drugs were found in Odom’s room.
“It’s a real shock. It’s terrible that our business is being disrupted. Here’s a guy who just wanted to have a good time and be private, and it’s tragic,” he added.
Metta World Peace referred to this sad incident after the end of the match between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings: “There is nothing I can say that can make sense about this situation.”
Kobe Bryant immediately left the arena to visit him at the hospital, as Odom’s ex-wife, Kloe Kardashian, is by his side. Several NBA players, like Dwayne Wade, Paul Pierce, Vince Carter and others, took to Twitter to express their shock at the news.
It’s worth mentioning, also, that Odom has suffered a lot in his life. He was raised by his grandmother after his mother died of cancer when he was 12. His father was a drug addict, while in 2006, Odom’s 6-month-old son Jayden died from SIDS while sleeping.
