Sabah claimed its first win in the Basketball Champions League in Baku, defeating Nymburk 105–87 in Round 5 of Group B.
Keith Jordan Jr. was the key man in the victory with 23 points, Justin Tillman added 18 points and nine rebounds, while Gerry Blakes contributed with 17. Jean-Marc Pansa was also excellent with 17 points and nine rebounds.
For the visitors, SirJabari Rice was once again the top scorer with 42 points, while Keyshawn Feazell added 15.
Sabah played a great game in front of its home fans and thus kept its chances of advancing to the next phase.
Already in the first quarter the hosts opened up a lead (30–21), and although the visitors came back twice, the Azerbaijani team in the end recorded a convincing win.
Result in Baku has complicated the situation in Group B. Both teams now have a 1–4 record, but the Czechs remain ahead, as they won the first game by a larger margin (93–65).
This means Sabah will have to win in the final round, when they visit Alba in Berlin, in order to go through. They will also have to rely on Nymburk losing away to Chalon.
