Nymburk achieved victory in the third round match of Group L in the Round of 16 of the Basketball Champions League, defeating Trieste away with a score of 91-86.
Ondrej Sehnal was the most efficient player on the winning team with 17 points, Sir’Jabari Rice and Matej Svoboda each scored 15, while Martin Kriz added 13 points, one more than Tony Perkins. On the home side, Markel Brown led the team with 19 points, Jarrod Uthoff scored 13, while Jahmi’us Ramsey finished the match with 12 points.
A very dramatic match was played in northern Italy, and in the end the visitor recorded their first triumph in the second round. Nymburk had an 11-point advantage with seven minutes remaining in the match (80-69), but the home team managed to come back with an 11-0 run.
However, Matej Svoboda scored five consecutive points, and after that Nymburk maintain that lead until the end and secure the victory.
Nymburk is now at a 1-2 record, and in six days they will host Tenerife at home. On the other hand, Trieste has the same record, and now they face a match on their home court against Gran Canaria.
