Team USA to launch training camp with 15 players

Many NBA players withdrew, but Team USA named 15 in the final preliminary squad for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Julius Randle was the last player summoned by Team USA that decided to skip the training camp and the 2019 FIBA World Cup altogether. Many fellow NBA players previously took their name out of contention for Team USA’s final World Cup roster.

Despite the issues, Team USA announced a 15-man preliminary squad and 14-man Select Team that will open the training camp on August 5th at UNLV’s Mendenhall Center.

The players above will be featured on August 9th at T-Mobile Arena at Las Vegas in a USA Blue versus USA White exhibition game. Following the Las Vegas Camp, the finalists for the World Cup roster will reassemble in Los Angeles between August 13th and 15th and square off against Spain in a friendly match at Anaheim’s Honda Center on August 16th.

On August 17th, the 12 members of the final squad will be named and Team USA will extend preparations at Melbourne, Australia from August 19th to August 24th facing Australia twice. The last step prior to the World Cup will be made in Sydney, Australia between August 25th and August 28th, which will include a tuneup game versus Canada.
