Rajon Rondo will be traveling to Orlando but will not immediately join the Los Angeles Lakers in the bubble, head coach Frank Vogel explained on Tuesday. About three weeks ago, Rondo was projected to miss six to eight weeks due to a fractured right thumb.

“He is definitely coming back to the bubble. I think he is making his way to Florida tomorrow. He will spend a certain period of time outside the bubble before integrated inside the bubble,” he said, “To be honest, I am not exactly sure about the protocols for re-entry. The front-office is handling it.”

The 34-year-old point guard will be quarantined according to the health guidelines implemented by the NBA. The Lakers still hope for Rondo to be cleared for action in time for the playoffs following the seeding games.

Dion Waiters and Alex Caruso will keep on covering and gaining additional playing time heading into Wednesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers, 51-15, have clinched first place in the Western Conference.
