Bam Adebayo (neck injury) and Goran Dragic (torn left plantar fascia) have been ruled out of Game 3 of the NBA Finals, as the Miami Heat has announced.

Both were injured in Game 1, and neither played in Miami’s Game 2 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The decision on Adebayo and Dragic was made about two hours before game time. Both arrived at the arena with their teammates, a move that was initially considered a good sign for their chances of playing, but ultimately that was not the case.

As Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said: “I can see the anguish, literally, in their eyes … they really want to be there because they love their teammates and they put their heart and soul into it”

The Heat trail the series 2-0. Game 4 is Tuesday night.
