The Dallas Mavericks will start the season without Kristaps Porzingis but hope to get him back in January

Kristaps Porzingis has been increasing participation in practice aiming to become available for regular action with the Dallas Mavericks by January. He was recently cleared for non-contact work and 5-on-0 play, reports Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News.

“He looks good,” noted head coach Rick Carlisle said, “He’s enthusiastic. He’s got a great vibe about how he’s feeling and how he’s progressing. There’s no timetable yet. It’s going to be at least January, but there are a lot of good signs.”

Despite the unclear timetable, the current plan is for the Latvian star to resume practicing and travel with the team to start the 2020-21 Regular Season. The Mavs will be on the road this week to face the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, and Los Angeles Clippers opening their campaign.
