The 2020-21 Regular Season with limited attendance due to the restrictions stemming from the coronavirus pandemic still managed to produce a fan ejection Monday evening at the State Farm Arena.
A female fan part of a socially distanced crowd of 1.341 and apparently disappointed as the Los Angeles Lakers controlled the Atlanta Hawks pulled down her mask and got into a brief verbal confrontation with LeBron James. The referees halted action in the fourth quarter and she was eventually tossed by security.
“At the end of the day, I’m just happy fans are back in the building,” said James, “I missed that interaction. I need that interaction.”
The Lakers following the incident went on to notch their 12th win on the road this season.
