Doncic drops 31, Mavs beat Jazz for fifth straight win

Doncic paced the Mavericks to their fifth straight win against league-leaders Jazz

The Dallas Mavericks overcame league-leaders Utah Jazz with a 111-103 win on Monday, paced behind a 31-point performance by Luka Doncic.

Doncic also added 9 rebounds and 8 assists, as Dallas (28-21) moved on with their season-best fifth straight win and Dorian Finney-Smith followed with 23 points.

Mike Conley had 28 points for the Jazz (38-12) that has won 9 of its last 10 games, Bojan Bogdanovic had 16 points and Rudy Gobert posted a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Davis Bertans tapped 17 points, Alex Len had 13 points and Deni Avdija stepped up with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, though the Washington Wizards (17-32) fell to the Toronto Raptors (20-30) 103-101, as Gary Trent Jr. beat the buzzer with a long 3-pointer to finish the game with a total of 16 points for the Raptors.

Pascal Siakam led all scorers for Toronto with 22 points and DeAndre Bembry had 15.

The Detroit Pistons (15-35) dominated Oklahoma City Thunder (20-30) with a 132-108 win, as Jerami Grant led the way with 21 points for his team.

Sekou Doumbouya posted 14 points for the Pistons coming from the bench, while Josh Jackson also had 14 points.

On the other end of the court, Aleksej Pokusevski paced Oklahoma with 19 points, 4 rebounds and Svi Mykhailiuk had 17.

Kyrie Irving tapped 40 points, Jeff Green made two free throws with 3.7 seconds remaining in the game and the Brooklyn Nets (35-16)  overcome the early loss of James Harden to prevail over the New York Knicks (25-26) with a 114-112 win. Harden returned after missing two games with right hamstring tightness but exited the court at the four-minute mark with the same injury.

Julius Randle had 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists to register his fourth triple-double of the season for the Knicks.

D’Angelo Russell had 25 points and Juancho Hernangomez added 17 points and 9 rebounds coming from the bench to help the Minnesota Timberwolves (13-38) overcome the Sacramento Kings (22-29) with a 116-106 victory.

DeAaron Fox had a game-high with 31 points for the Kings and Harrison Barnes followed with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Darius Garland scored a career-high 37 points, and the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the San Antonio Spurs 125-101 to bounce back from a five-game slip.  Collin Sexton posted 22 points for the Cavs (18-32), Isaiah Hartenstein scored a season-high 16, and Taurean Prince finished with 14.

DeMar DeRozan led the way with 25 points for the Spurs that slipped their third straight game (24-24), while Rudy Gay, Derrick White and Keldon Johnson all had 13 points each.

Devin Booker scored 18 of his 36 points in the fourth period to help the Phoenix Suns (35-14) overcome the Houston Rockets with a  133-130 win, their sixth straight. Deandre Ayton matched his season-high with 27 points, Mikal Bridges had 20 points, and Chris Paul finished with 19 points and 11 assists.

Christian Wood had 23 points to lead the Rockets and Kelly Olynyk left the court with 21.
