The Los Angeles Lakers weren’t playing with their backs against the wall but needed a strong performance to get the win and avoid falling into a 0-2 hall in the series against the Phoenix Suns.

Enter Anthony Davis and his 34 points, 10 rebounds plus seven assists that pushed the Lakers to a 109 – 102 win over the Suns for the 1-1 in the Wester’s quarterfinals.

Dennis Schroder contributed 24 points while LeBron James had 23 points for the Lakers. He and Davis combined for five points that put the defending champs up 98 – 92 with 2:15 to play.

Devin Booker led the Suns with 31 points while DeAndre Ayton posted a double-double of 20 points plus 10 rebounds. Their team didn’t have Chris Paul in the final decisive minutes since the veteran guard was coping with a shoulder injury.

Earlier, the Brooklyn Nets went up 2-0 over the Boston Celtics thanks to a 130 – 108 win behind Kevin Durant’s 26 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
