One more pupil of Gregg Popovich is emerging as an NBA head coach in one of the most historic franchises of the league. Ime Udoka is finalizing a deal with the Celtics, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

A Nigerian-American former professional basketball player and assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the San Antonio Spurs, Udoka has also played in Spain, back in 2004 for Gran Canaria and in 2012 for UCAM Murcia.

He stayed as an assistant with the Nets from 2012 until 2019 and was part of the 2014 NBA championship run.

The former coach of the Celtics, Brad Stevens, is the new president of Basketball Operations in the club and the hiring of Udoka is his second first major move, after trading Kemba Walker.
