Jason Kidd has landed in Dallas as the new head coach of the Mavericks, the team announced Monday. Kidd returns to the organization with which he began his playing career and won the NBA championship in 2011. Alongside Kidd, Nico Harrison has joined the Mavs with GM duties, the team further announced.

Kidd, 48, has served as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers for the past two seasons, while he has coached the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets in the last decade.

“We are excited to welcome J-Kidd and his family back to Dallas,” Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said per the Mavs’ press release. “He possesses a winning mentality that carried him through a Hall of Fame career as a player and has helped him successfully transition to the NBA’s coaching ranks. We are eager for him to get to work and lead our franchise and talented young players into the future.”
