The Brooklyn Nets are set to add Goran Dragic, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. The latest newcomer for the Nets will sign a contract for the rest of the season, as noted by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Dragic, 35, was waived by the San Antonio Spurs after both sides agreed to a contract buyout last week. On the recent NBA Trade Deadline, he was moved from the Toronto Raptors to the Spurs. He averaged 8.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.2 blocks per contest before stepping away from the Canadian team early in the 2021-22 Regular Season. As an unrestricted free agent, he was rumored to be attracting the interest of multiple teams expected to contend for the NBA championship, including the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Slovenian guard will play under former teammate and current Nets head coach Steve Nash. The Brooklyn organization will become his fifth different NBA team after the Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, and Raptors. His career averages amount to 13.9 points, 4.7 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game over 928 appearances between the Regular Season and Playoffs.

Depending on the availability of his new teammates at Brooklyn, the Dragon can be projected to play behind Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving or Patty Mills and Seth Curry. His arrival will be adding depth to the squad heading into the crunch time of the Regular Season. The Nets currently sit eighth in the Eastern Conference standings. The 31-28 record is 2.5 shy of a direct Playoff ticket and is also 3.5 games safe of being eliminated from both the Playoffs and the Play-Ins.

Jevon Carter will be waived to open a roster spot for Dragic, added Wojnarowski.
