Luka Doncic returned to the court after a one-game absence with an ankle injury. The Mavericks star from Slovenia torched the Detroit Pistons for 53 points in a 111-105 Dallas win.

The effort was Doncic’s fourth 50-plus-point performance of the season and the fifth of his career. He owns more than half of the nine 50-point games in Mavericks history with a tally that isn’t likely to slow down anytime soon.

It was also the 19th 50-plus-point game of the current NBA campaign, tying the total for the entirety of last season with more than 1/3 of the league’s schedule remaining. It’s the second straight day with a 50-point game after Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 50 on Sunday in a Bucks win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Croatian sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic scored 28 points for Detroit.

Italian forward Paolo Banchero had a noteworthy performance by scoring 29 points in a big win over Philadelphia 119-109. German Moritz Wagner added 22 points, while his brother Franz Wagner followed with 19.

In a big-man showdown, Lithuanian Domantas Sabonis led the Sacramento Kings with 17 points and 13 rebounds to a win against Minnesota 118-111. French big man Rudy Gobert inked 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Israeli Deni Avdija with 25 points and Latvian Kristaps Porzingis with 17 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists led the way for Washington’s win over San Antonio 127-106.
