A Kyrie Irving-LeBron James reunion at the Lakers? It seems quite possible.

The Los Angeles Lakers are the team that Kyrie Irving prefers to continue his career with, according to multiple NBA reporters such as Marc Stein and Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports.

On Friday (4/2), it was widely reported by several media that Irving and his representatives requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. Irving is said to want out of the Nets due to the fact that the club doesn’t show any willingness to sign him to a new and more lucrative contract before the season is over.

The Nets are reported to be hesitant to commit to Irving with a long-term investment in the aftermath of the controversy after the player promoted a film with anti-Jewish propaganda on social media. Since then and following his suspension by the NBA, Irving played some spectacular basketball through December and January, averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds in the season overall.

The Lakers find the prospect of acquiring Irving intriguing and are indeed considered perhaps the favorites to get him. The team is looking to make a long postseason run after failing to make the playoffs last season and getting eliminated in the first round of 2021.

The question is how many assets are the Lakers ready to give in order to bring Irving and pair him with LeBron James. The two of them won the 2016 championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

What seems to be all but certain is that Russell Westbrook will be moved from the Lakers if they make the trade for Irving.
