The French rookie had another outstanding effort but the Grizzlies had the upper hand over San Antonio

If it wasn’t for Jaren Jackson’s game-winner that came at 1.2 seconds left, the clash between San Antonio and the Memphis Grizzlies would have gone to overtime.

Instead, the Spurs had to surrender 99-97 despite Victor Wembanyama’s brilliant night. The No.1 pick in the latest NBA Draft had another double-double with 31 points and 16 rebounds, including 5 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks as well. However, he also shot 3/12 from deep and had 7 turnovers.

He had the opportunity to win the game but missed a fadeaway shot in the end. “When he turned, I was like, there is not much I can do here because he’s going to shoot it from here. Don’t foul him”, Jaren Jackson Jr. said about it in the post-game press conference.

The French rookie also commented after the defeat. “Actually, I remember having a thought in the first half that when we were up by a lot, I didn’t put the nail in the coffin. This is how I felt. I wanted to have a reaction because it doesn’t matter who is in front of us, we have to be the same way, to be as aggressive”, he said.

While his teammate Jeremy Sochah ended with another all-around night with 6 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals, the European who won the battle was in the end, Santi Aldama. The Spanish forward concluded with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds.
