Following numerous rumors over recent weeks, including a breakdown in talks between the Miami Heat and the Golden State Warriors, Jimmy Butler is indeed heading to San Francisco.
Butler, 35, declined a player option for the 2025-26 to sign a two-year, 121 million dollar contract extension to commit until the end of the 2026-27 season, as reported by ESPN senior NBA insider Shams Charania on Wednesday.
“I’m really happy that he got what he wanted,” Serbian Nikola Jovic commented on his former teammate securing a new contract after a winning display against the Philadelphia 76ers, “That bag is really big and I’m happy for him.”
Entering a four-team deal centered on the experienced combo forward, German Dennis Schroder is heading to the Utah Jazz. Counting a recent trade away from the Brooklyn Nets, the 31-year-old floor general became a veteran of six trades in his NBA career and might be involved in a seventh as well, since he is expected to move on from the Jazz, per ESPN’s Marc J. Spears.

The Jazz also received a second-round pick. In addition, the Heat landed Andrew Wiggins alongside Kyle Anderson, P.J. Tucker, and a protected first-round draft pick. Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons get Lindy Waters III and Josh Richardson plus a second-round pick from the Warriors.
Another German import on the move shortly before the deadline for players involved in trades to be eligible for the 2025 Playoffs, Daniel Theis was shifted from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Pelicans also sent Brandon Ingram to the Toronto Raptors for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, a first-round pick, and a second-round pick, revealed Charania.
