A couple of days ago, Shams Charania reported that Ukrainian center Alex Len was expected to be waived by the Washington Wizards and intended to move to the Indiana Pacers.
However, there was a twist, and Len is now about to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent.
“Free agent 7-footer Alex Len will sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. Len intended to sign with the Pacers but has decided to land in LA after the Lakers rescinded the Mark Williams trade and created a new opportunity,” Charania wrote.
Christian Wood is expected to be waived by the Lakers, to maker room for the signing of 31-year-old Ukrainian.
Len joined the Wizards as part of a multi-team deal during the February 6 trade deadline but is now set to provide frontcourt depth for the Lakers amid the failed trade for Mark Williams.
Currently in his 12th NBA season, Len was drafted fifth overall in 2013 by the Phoenix Suns. Five years later, he moved to the Atlanta Hawks, then played for the Sacramento Kings, Toronto Raptors, and Washington Wizards before returning to the Kings in 2021.
He has amassed 680 regular-season appearances, averaging 6.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in the NBA.
