Giannis is reportedly the Nets’ Plan A

The Milwaukee Bucks selected Giannis Antetokounmpo as the No. 15 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, and since then, the Greek international has become one of the best players in the world, winning an NBA championship in 2021 and two MVP awards in 2019 and 2020.

He is currently playing his 12th season in the NBA with the Bucks, but according to the New York Post, the Brooklyn Nets could try to end his tenure in Wisconsin.

Multiple league personnel that have spoken with The Post say Giannis Antetokounmpo has been and remains Plan A for the Nets. If Antetokounmpo gets traded elsewhere this summer, that may make GM Sean Marks’ path simple—tanking for another year and building through the lottery,” states the New York Post article written by Brian Lewis.

The Nets also have other targets, such as Sacramento Kings‘ Lithuanian center Domantas Sabonis, but their main goal appears to be acquiring Antetokounmpo.

What happens if the two-time MVP remains in Milwaukee past the June draft, when Marks usually makes his biggest moves? Are potential lesser targets like Ja Morant, Domantas Sabonis, Trae Young, or LaMelo Ball worth emptying the proverbial clip for if it means abandoning all hope for the Greek Freak?

Antetokounmpo is having another stellar season, averaging 30.2 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 5.9 assists while shooting 60.1% from the field.
