Mike Brown is going to be the new head coach of the New York Knicks, according to ESPN. He’s replacing Tom Thibodeaeu who was fired early in June.
After parting ways with Thibodeaeu, the Knicks went on a pursuit of a new head coach before hiring Brown.
Brown last coached the Sacramento Kings before he was axed last December. He was previously the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers while serving as an assistant at the Golden State Warriors, the Washington Wizards and the San Antonio Spurs.
In 2009 and 2023, Brown was named Coach of the Year while being at the helm of the Cavaliers and the Kings respectively.
ESPN reports that other candidates for the Knicks’ head coach position included Memphies Grizzlies‘ Taylor Jenkins, New Orleans Pelicans‘ associate coach James Borrego and Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Micah Nori.
Last season, the Knicks reached the Eastern Conference Finals and were beaten 3-4 by the Indiana Pacers.
