Luka Dončić and the Los Angeles Lakers closed out the preseason with a narrow 116–117 defeat to the Sacramento Kings, entering the regular season with a 1–5 record in their preparatory games.
The Slovenian star delivered another strong performance with 31 points and nine assists, and after the game, he reflected on the team’s form and what needs improvement heading into the 2025/26 season.
“Obviously, practice is different. I think in practice we’re more physical. Like I said, we need to work on our physicality,” Luka said in the post-game press conference.
He added that there’s still work to be done, especially since LeBron James remains sidelined with an injury.
“Sometimes we’re gonna have a small group out there, sometimes we’re gonna have a bigger group out there. There’s some stuff to clean up — obviously, I think the physicality.”
The Los Angeles Lakers will open the season against the Golden State Warriors on October 21.
