Nikola Jokic had a triple-double as the Denver Nuggets beat the short-handed Minnesota Timberwolves 127-114

The Serbian big man finished the night with 25 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists for his third triple-double in three games this season. He now has 167 career triple-doubles, third on the NBA’s all-time list.

The Timberwolves played without injured star Anthony Edwards and dropped to 2-2, while the Nuggets are a bit better with a 2-1 record.

Finland’s pride Lauri Markkanen scored a career-high 51 points, the first Jazz player to reach 50 in the regular season since Karl Malone in 1998, and Utah beat the Phoenix Suns 138-134 in overtime.

French phenomenon Victor Wembanyama had 24 points and 15 rebounds, and the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Toronto Raptors 121-103 to tie the best start in franchise history.

San Antonio has opened a season 4-0 on four occasions, most recently in 2017, but the Spurs have never won their first five games.

Last but not least, veteran Montenegrin big man Nikola Vucevic had 17 points, 17 rebounds, and nine assists as Chicago came back from an early 13-point deficit to beat the Atlanta Hawks 128-123 and improved to 3-0, its best start in four years.

Meanwhile, Turkish star Alperen Sengun scored 21 points as the Rockets dominated Brooklyn 137-109.
