The NBA Berlin Game 2026 and NBA London Game 2026 are set to be played on Thursday and Sunday, with NBA commissioner Adam Silver expected to hold key meetings regarding a new European League, as anticipated by Eurohoops, beyond attending the two games between the Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies in Uber Arena and The O2 Arena.
According to a Bloomberg report, the NBA is targeting team valuations of up to $1 billion for entries in a new league, widely labeled as NBA Europe.
Naturally, NBA officials formally presenting financial projections on a new top-tier club competition in Europe are placed among interesting topics for potential investors. However, further and more specific details will follow in future meetings.
London and Berlin are both among the rumored candidates for spots among the 12 permanent NBA Europe franchises. The initial plan to launch the league consists of those 12 participants joined by four more through the Basketball Champions League and season-ending Qualification Tournaments. Expansions planned for later years, following the estimated launch with the inaugural edition in the 2027-28 season, will retain 25% of the field as a product of Qualifiers.
January was already confirmed as the next step in exploring NBA Europe options, specifically NBA and FIBA having talks with prospective teams and ownership groups in the process to join the league.
In a possible link to a new league, Euroleague Basketball is expecting an answer from the undecided licensed clubs about committing to new long-term contracts by Thursday.
