LeBron James paid tribute to Nikola Jokić during the Lakers’ road win over the Denver Nuggets, sharing a moment of respect with the Serbian star that quickly went viral.
During a stoppage in play, James walked over to the Nuggets’ bench to greet Jokić.
Asked about it afterward, the Lakers superstar made it clear why he felt compelled to do so.
“It’s the utmost respect. Jokić is one of the greatest players to ever play this game. For me to go over to him and show that respect — that’s easy,” James said.
LeBron was also asked about another Jokić-related memory that has already taken on historic weight: the 2024 Paris Olympics semifinal between the United States and Serbia.
“It’s one of the best games ever played. I’ve been part of NBA Finals, Olympic games, high school games, regular-season games — and that one is right up there with the best. I’ll never forget it.”
