Nearly a year after his blockbuster trade to the Los Angeles Lakers, Luka Dončić showed his appreciation for the fans who continued to support him in the aftermath of the move.
Ahead of the Lakers’ visit to face the Dallas Mavericks, Dončić invited 22 fans who had publicly backed him on social media after the trade to watch the game from a private suite at the American Airlines Center, according to the ESPN.
The experience also included a pregame meet-and-greet, giving the group an opportunity to spend time with the Slovenian star before tip-off. To cap off the night, each fan received a gift bag featuring a Luka Dončić Lakers jersey and his signature shoe.
“It’s a special place,” Dončić said of Dallas after the win. “I always want to win no matter what. Every game I want to win, but obviously this one is a little bit different.”
During his return, Dončić also visited his former home and his car collection, while expressing gratitude to Mavericks fans who braved icy road conditions to pack the arena.
“That was really special. I didn’t know what to expect, because I know how this city is when the weather is bad,” Dončić added. “I really appreciate so many people showing up.”
Even in a new uniform, Dončić once again made it clear that loyalty doesn’t go unnoticed — and that his bond with Dallas remains strong.
