All signs point to the Milwaukee Bucks seriously exploring a trade involving two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, potentially ending his 12.5-year tenure with the franchise.
According to NBC Sports, six teams are showing “sincere interest” in Giannis, with three or four aggressively pursuing him.
ESPN analyst Bobby Marks notes that any team hoping to land Giannis Antetokounmpo must meet three key criteria: draft equity or young players, controllable contracts, and expiring or movable salary.
Marks points out that the Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks already fall short on the first requirement, as they cannot trade their first-round picks, leaving the Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat as the most viable options.
The Brooklyn Nets could also emerge as serious suitors, thanks to 10–11 tradable first-round picks and a young star like Michael Porter Jr., while Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reports that the Toronto Raptors are among the teams showing interest.
For the Warriors, apart from Stephen Curry, much of the roster is reportedly tradeable, including Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga, who has requested a move. Combined with their four first-round picks (2026, 2028, 2030—top-20 protected—and 2032), Golden State could assemble a package capable of enticing the Bucks.
Giannis is earning $54.1 million this season, matching Jimmy Butler, while Green’s salary is $25.9 million, making a trade financially feasible.
With the trade deadline less than a week away (February 5), the clock is ticking for any potential blockbuster deal involving one of the NBA’s biggest stars.
