Luka Dončić and Victor Wembanyama stood at the center of the NBA’s January awards, each recognized for elite production on opposite ends of the floor.
Dončić was named NBA Player of the Month after averaging 34.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 9.1 assists as the Los Angeles Lakers went 9–7 during January.
The Slovenian guard combined volume scoring with playmaking efficiency, ranking second in the NBA in Player Efficiency Rating (PER) for the month.
Wembanyama, meanwhile, claimed Western Conference Defensive Player of the Month, continuing his standout campaign with San Antonio.
The Spurs forward-center ranked second in the West in blocks (2.2 per game), second in defensive rebounds (8.2) and second in defensive rating (108.1) over January, underscoring his growing impact as a defensive anchor.
