LeBron James officially closed the door on his tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers during an appearance at Fanatics Fest in New York City, shifting the focus entirely to his unprecedented 24th season. Reflecting on eight years highlighted by the 2020 championship, the 41-year-old superstar expressed immense gratitude for his time in Southern California while eagerly anticipating the final chapters of his legendary career.

“Shout out to my former team,” he said. “That was an unbelievable ride, and I am looking forward to what comes next as I wind down my journey. It’s going to be fun wherever I land.”

Despite rampant speculation linking him to contenders across the league, the future first-ballot Hall of Famer remained tight-lipped regarding his ultimate destination. As fans in attendance shouted out various destinations to bait him, James leaned into the media circus surrounding his unrestricted free agency to acknowledge the primary suitors on his radar.

“I’ve heard Warriors. I’ve heard Philly, Miami,” the four-time champion enigmatically told the crowd, directly addressing the rumors before laughing off televised critical analysis regarding his potential fits.

During the live podcast recording on stage, Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton playfully attempted to pry details from the superstar about his next home. James effortlessly deflected the inquiry by referencing a private conversation the two shared backstage, jokingly acknowledging that he previously answered Haliburton’s recruitment texts with just a pair of laughing emojis.

“Every time I leave my house, or I leave my room, or if I’m on the road during the NBA games and I leave my hotel, I understand that I’m not just representing myself, and I hold that responsibility very high,” he mentioned, moving beyond the immediate frenzy of free agency into a deeper discussion regarding his broader legacy and global impact.
