Complicated Kristaps Porzingis situation persists at the Golden State Warriors ahead of the 2026–27 NBA Regular Season

The Golden State Warriors face growing questions about Kristaps Porzingis. The center has been away from the team for two weeks due to a private medical issue. He missed all of training camp, and no one knows when he will play again.

However, a small step is happening. The Latvian big is scheduled to arrive at Chase Center on Tuesday. His teammates are traveling to Las Vegas for an NBA Preseason 2026 game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday. Porzingis will stay behind in San Francisco to meet with Rick Celebrini, the director of sports medicine and performance. The staff will evaluate him there.

Head coach Steve Kerr confirmed the meeting after Monday’s team practice. “He’ll be here tomorrow,” he said. “No update beyond that. But he’ll be in the building meeting with Rick and the performance staff.”

“All that will be determined once we get him back here and have discussions and figure out where he is with all that stuff,” he added.

Following up, the Warriors will attempt to figure out a timeline for Porzingis,

The front office has kept in touch with the veteran of 561 NBA games during his absence. Still, the situation creates a massive hole in the lineup, with the roster already thin ahead of the 2026–27 Regular Season.

The Liepaja native has dealt with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome over the last two years. The franchise has not said if this current absence is related to that illness.
