Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry suffered a right ankle sprain during Sunday’s open practice at Chase Center.
The 38-year-old point guard limped to the locker room after his foot caught on the court. Head coach Steve Kerr later calmed worries. “He said he’s fine,” mentioned the 61-year-old play-caller. “I went and talked to him after he went downstairs, and I went in the training room. He’s doing fine.”
However, the swift panic underscored how fragile Curry is considered at this stage of his career.

The four-time NBA champion is entering his 18th season in the league. When he clutched his leg, the fans went silent. Onlookers feared a recurrence of previous setbacks. Due to a right knee injury, he was limited to 43 appearances during the 2025–26 campaign, with the Warriors dropping 26 of 39 games without their leader. In the Preseason 2026, Curry logged five appearances, tallying 13.0 points, 3.2 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.6 steals per contest.
This latest scare points to a larger problem for the franchise. They are battling a severe wave of injuries. Jimmy Butler III is still recovering from a torn ACL. Moses Moody remains out with a tendon issue. Meanwhile, Latvian Kristaps Porzingis remains unavailable with an undisclosed illness. Furthermore, Brandin Podziemski and Charles Bassey did not participate in the open practice due to right knee issues.
A shorthanded lineup must now face a difficult upcoming schedule to start the 2026–27 Regular Season. Opening the 82-game schedule, the Warriors travel to face Luka Doncic and the Lakers this Wednesday.
