Following a dominant win over the Toronto Raptors at Target Center on Sunday, Minnesota Timberwolves starter Rudy Gobert made it clear that his approach remains steady despite his team’s evolving style.
When asked if he has altered his game to fit the current roster, he rejected the idea.
“My role is the same,” he replied. “My role is to be who I am, be the best in the world at what I do. And then offensively just dominate, dominate, dominate in my own way, with my running, with my screening, my offensive rebound.”
The 14-year veteran big also addressed the vocal nature of a squad that has quickly gained a reputation for competitive banter.
“We don’t want to be a team that talks too much. I think talk is cheap, but we just got to talk enough,” he mentioned. “Ant and a few more guys, without naming them, they get going by talking a little bit, so I think that’s a good thing as long as we back it up.”
The undefeated Wolves look to sustain this momentum on Monday when they face the Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Arena. So far, 34-year-old Gobert has chipped in 9.0 points and 12.3 rebounds per contest.
A dominant force inside, the Saint-Quentin native is a three-time All-Star and four-time Defensive Player of the Year, as well as a veteran of 1,004 appearances in the league. This career is expanding within one of the top defenses, marking the pursuit of his first championship.
