Barcelona announced that it has reached an agreement with the Brooklyn Nets and Latvian forward Rodions Kurucs to terminate the player’s existing contract with the club. Kurucs is now cleared to sign with the Nets, the team that selected him with the 40th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

If Kurucs ever returns to Europe, Barcelona retains the right of the player and a priority to acquire him over any other team.

Kurucs, 20, joined Barcelona in 2015 by signing a four-year contract. During his stint with the Blaugrana, he saw little time on the court with the senior squad, playing only in five Euroleague games over the past two seasons. In Spain, he played six games in 2017-2018.

By signing with the Nets, Kurucs will become the second European player that joins the team this summer, following Brooklyn’s 29th overall pick in the 2018 Draft: Bosnian wing Dzanan Musa.
