Rodions Kurucs was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly choking his then girlfriend in June, per the New York Daily News. He was released without bail. The 21-year-old Latvian forward is facing a suspension from the NBA.
The report states that police sources informed that a verbal argument led to Kurucs choking and pushing his now ex-girlfriend, also slapped her. The woman is said to have suffered bruising to her left hand, ribs and face, but has not provided any photographic evidence of the her injuries.
The incident reportedly took place at Brooklyn before the NBA player made the trip to Las Vegas for the 2019 NBA Summer League.
He was charged with third-degree assault among other charges. Kurucs was given court orders to stay away from her and is scheduled to return to court on October 21st.
His team has issued a statement confirming that they are aware of the allegations and investigating the matter.
