A late run sends Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv to a second win in the series versus Hapoel Altshuler Beer Sheva/Dimona

After dropping an early double-digit advantage, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv restored the lead and held on in crunch time to prevail, 80-76, versus Hapoel Altshuler Beer Sheva/Dimona Sunday.

Lorenzo Brown finished with 24 points, four assists, three steals, and two rebounds in Game 2 of Israel’s Winner League Quarterfinals best-of-five series. Taking over down the stretch included the 32-year-old guard being involved across all buckets in a 7-0 run turning the tables midway through the fourth quarter.

Roman Sorkin chipped in 13 points for the win in The Shell. Alex Poythress and Bonzie Colson threw in 11 and ten points, respectively. Wade Baldwin IV was sidelined alongside Josh Nebo, Jalen Adams (shoulder), Austin Hollins (knee), and Suleiman Braimoh for the team coached by Oded Kattash.

For the hosts, former SMU standout Ben Moore had 17 points. David Efianayi followed with 16 points. Greg Whittington stuffed the stat sheet with ten points, six rebounds, four steals, one block, and one assist.

Game 3 will be played in Menora Mivtachim Arena Wednesday.

Bnei Herzeliya ties series with Hapoel Jerusalem

More playoffs action in Hayovel with Bnei Ofek Dist Herzeliya leading for nearly the entire 40 minutes and tackling Basketball Champions League runner-up Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem, 75-64. Tied at 1-1, the series returns to Pais Arena Wednesday.

Elsewhere in the Quarterfinals, Hapoel Atsmon Holon and Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv enjoy 2-0 leads over Hapoel Nofar Galil Elion and Ironi Hai Motors Ness Ziona, respectively.
