Fenerbahce stunned Ormanspor with a victory in the BSL 2020-21 season opener

The new Turkish League season is underway and Fenerbahce was stunning in the season opener.

Fenerbahce – Ormanspor 105-72

Igor Kokoskov’s squad tipped off the new BSL season with a statement victory at home. Nando De Colo led the way with 22 points, four assists, Lorenzo Brown posted 19 points and Melih Mahmutoglu added 18 points coming from the bench. Danilo Barthel and Tarik Biberovic also finished in double digits with 10 points.

Ormanspor’s Kadir Bayram tapped a team-high of 17 points.

GalatasarayAnadolu Efes 56 -80 

Sertac Sanli scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Anadolu Efes crushed Galatasaray on the road to begin the new season in style. Krunoslav Simon added 12 points plus five assists while Vasilije Micic had 11 points and six assists for the winning squad. Bryant Dunston posted 10 points as Efes prevailed over its opponents 45 – 25 in the second half to get the easy win.

For Galatasaray, Daryl Macon dropped a game-high 21 points, got five rebounds, and dished out five assists. Johnathan Williams had 10 points and six rebounds.

Frutti Extra Bursaspor – Besiktas 89-73

Malik Newman scored 20, Xavier Munford had 18 points and Kenny Kadji 15 as Bursaspor has an easy win over Besiktas.

The hosts led by 16 points (50-34) in the first half and never looked back against the Istanbul club which has limited firepower with Sehmus Hazer (18 p.) and Alperen Sengun (17 p.) trying their best.

HDI Sigorta Afyon Belediye – Gaziantep 78-70

Despite trailing for most of the first half, HDI Sigorta Afyon Belediye bounced back for the opening week win versus Gaziantep. J.P. Macura piled up 17 points and Pako Cruz finished with 15. Evaldas Kairys added a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Trevis Simpson dialed in five threes but his game-high 22 points went to waste.

Bahcesehir – Tofas 84-73

A few big performances were seen in the clash that eventually belonged to Bahcesehir and Erick Green’s 24 points were the main force behind the victorious run.

Burack Yildizli and Joshua Owens had his back with 12 each while on the other side, Sean Kilpatrick banked 23 and DJ White 22 points.

Buyukcekmece – Petkim Spor 86-83

Karvel Anderson was on fire for Buyukcekmece, leading the way with 34 points while Omer Al added 16 and Matthew Farrell 11 points.

For Petkim Spor, Ian Hummer scored 15 in addition to Kendrick Ray’s 14 and Sarunas Vasiliauskas’ 12 points.

Pinar Karsiyaka – Fethiye Belediyespor 92-55

Karsiyaka strolled past Fethiye thanks to Seketoure Henry’s 18 as well as James Brisen’s 15 and Onuralp Bitim’s 14 points.

Erick Neal had 22 points for the opposing side but it was from enough as he had little help from the rest of the squad.

Turk Telekom – Darussafaka Tekfen 79 – 69

The game that concluded Round 1 took place Wednesday (7/10) due to Turk Telekom’s participation in the Basketball Champions League Final 8. The Ankara side beat Dacka at home thanks to the quartet of Micheal Eric (16 points), Kyle Wiltjer (15 points, six rebounds), Muhammed Baygul (14 points, six assists) and Sam Dekker (nine points, 11 rebounds).

John Gillon scored 13 points, Dogus Ozdemiroglu had 12 points and Sinan Guler posted 10 points and five assists for Dacka.
