Game 1 of the Turkish Basketball Super League Finals was won by Fenerbahce, who have the opportunity later on today to go win away from the Championship.
However, rather than what happened on the court, off-court buzz conditioned the aftermath. Most importantly, Besiktas protested about the referees’ decisions after their team’s defeat.
Just a few hours before the start of Game 2, the Turkish Basketball Federation Board issued sanctions on both teams, and specifically towards Besiktas’ Team Manager Özkan Arseven.
Fenerbahce was fined due to chants and court incidents during the match, while Besiktas Fibabanka was fined due to the statement published on the club’s website after the match. Moreover, Özkan Arseven was fined for his statements towards the referees after the game.
