Anadolu Efes overcomes Auguste’s monster double-double in Usak

Efes escaped the home court of Usak Sportif to remain first in the BSL standings.

In a manner perhaps easier than what the final score shows, Anadolu Efes downed Usak Sportif 80 – 78 on the road, improving its Turkish league record to 17 – 2 and remaining at the first place of the standings tied with Fenerbahce.

Alex Kirk scored a season-high 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, while Cedi Osman dropped 14 for coach Perasovic‘s squad. Tyler Honeycutt registered a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Bryant Dunston added 13 points as well.

Efes such a contribution by many players in order to counter Zach Auguste’s dominant action. The Greek/American big guy posted a double-double of 23 points and 18 rebounds, with the latter being an overall career high.

Along with Sarunas Vasiliauskas (15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists) and Saquile McKissic, they helped Usak recover from a nine-point (63 – 72) deficit in the mid of the fourth quarter and become dangerous.

Efes made many turnovers and its large rotation allowed its opponents to approach 76 – 80 with one minute to go. But the comeback of Usak was left incomplete and the team is now at the third from last place of the standings with a 5 – 14 record.
