Anadolu Efes takes 1-0 lead over Galatasaray

Efes played some intense defense down the stretch to overcome Galatasaray.

Five players scored in double figures for Anadolu Efes that beat Galatasaray 82 – 77 in Game 1 of the Turkish BSL League best-of-five semifinal series.

Rodrigue Beaubois finished with 18 points and eight rebounds, Vasilije Micic added 16 points, four assists, and four boards while Bryant Dunston added a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Adrien Moerman (14 points, eight rebounds, five assists) and Krunoslav Simon (13 points) completed the winning equation for the Shane Larkin-less Efes.

Aaron Harrison (17 points, six assists), Marko Arapovic (13 points), Zach Auguste (12 points, 13 rebounds) and Tal Webster (11 points, six rebounds) stood out for Galatasaray that led by five, 50 – 55, in the mid of the third period. Efes took the advantage at the end of the fourth and the game remained close until the last minute.

With the game tied 73 – 73, Micic’s six points and a free throw by Simon put Efes up 79 – 75. Webster drained a pair from the line for the 79 – 77 with 38 seconds left but his team didn’t score again in the match.
